Description
What is niacin?
Niacin belongs to the group of water-soluble B vitamins. The term niacin does not basically refer to a single vitamin, but stands for nicotinic acid and nicotinamide as well as their compounds. In contrast to many other vitamins, the human body also produces niacin itself: in the liver from the amino acid tryptophan. As a component of important coenzymes, niacin is involved in many reactions in all cells of the body. These include, for example, processes of cell division, the formation and breakdown of carbohydrates, amino acids and fatty acids, and the immune response. Niacin also promotes energy metabolism, contributes to mental resilience, brain and nerve functions, is involved in learning and helps to nourish the skin from the inside out.
Vitamin B3 in the diet
Vitamin B3 is found in meat, fish, whole grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables and potatoes.
Vitamin B3 as a tablet
Niacin from NaturesPlus contains 90 tablets.
That is important
Since niacin stimulates blood circulation, it can temporarily cause a severe but harmless red discoloration of the skin (a so-called flush). Alternatively, niacinamide can be used, which does not trigger this flush.
Hint:
Food supplements are not intended to be a substitute for a balanced and varied diet.
