Description
Source of Life® Garden™ Prenatal Multi
Source of Life® Garden™ Prenatal Multi provides vegan vitamin D3 from lichens along with vitamins A, C, E, and K, as well as the full spectrum of B vitamins. In addition, it contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium from seaweed in a plant-based, whole-food base specially tailored to pregnant women.
Folic Acid
Folic acid is one of the B vitamins and is found in almost all animal and plant foods. The human body cannot produce folic acid on its own; it must be obtained through food. Good sources of folate include various vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, cabbage, fennel, cucumbers, and tomatoes. In addition, legumes, potatoes, nuts, oranges, whole grains, wheat germ, and soybeans contain a lot of folates. Certain animal products such as milk and dairy products, eggs, as well as liver also contain folates. In pregnant women, the need is increased. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. An additional intake of folic acid can increase maternal folate status.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D can be produced by the body in the skin with the help of the sun's UV-B rays. It is the site of the body's own production of vitamin D (endogenous synthesis). In winter, however, the sun's radiation in our latitudes is too weak for sufficient vitamin D production in the skin. The body then falls back on vitamin D3, which is stored in the form of calcifediol, if available. The stores are mainly located in muscle and adipose tissue.
The main function of vitamin D in the body is in the area of the bones. In addition, vitamin D has a beneficial influence on the cell division process.
Hint: Food supplements are not intended to be a substitute for a balanced and varied diet.
