Enzyme sind komplexe Eiweißmoleküle, die auch als Biokatalysatoren bezeichnet werden. Sie werden für Verdauungsvorgänge, die Energiegewinnung in der Atmungskette, die Weitergabe der Erbinformation und die Regulierung von Entzündungs- und anderen Stoffwechselprozessen in der Zelle benötigt.
